Terms of Service & Acceptable Use
Last updated 2026-09-18. Plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, ask before you rely on it.
1. What Cria is
Cria is a marketplace. Providers run AI models on hardware they own and control. Consumers send requests to those models through an OpenAI-compatible API and pay per token. Cria operates the matching, routing, billing and payout layer. Cria does not own or operate the providers' hardware and does not control what runs on it beyond the rules on this page.
Cria is in beta. Features change, servers come and go, and there is no uptime guarantee (see §8).
2. Accounts
You must be 18 or older. One person per account; keep your credentials to yourself. You are responsible for everything done with your access keys and server keys, so revoke them if they leak. Registration is currently by invitation; an invite code is not transferable for money.
3. Prohibited everywhere
The following are banned on every server, for every account, regardless of any opt-in. Violations end the account, and where the law requires it we report them.
- Any sexual content involving minors, or content that sexualises minors in any form, including fictional, drawn or "aged-up" framing.
- Non-consensual sexual content depicting real, identifiable people.
- Content that facilitates violence, terrorism, or serious harm to people.
- Malware, credential theft, fraud, spam, or attacks on Cria, providers, or third parties.
- Harassment, threats, or exposing private information about real people.
- Anything that breaks the law where you are, where the provider is, or where Cria operates.
- Using a model in a way its license forbids. Providers list the license; consumers are responsible for compliance.
4. Adult content: opt-in, flagged, isolated
Fictional adult content between adults (18+ roleplay and storytelling) is permitted only under these conditions:
- Consumers must flag it. Either create an access key marked "adult", or send
X-Content-Rating: adulton each request. Sending adult content on an unflagged key or request is a violation of these terms. - It only ever reaches servers that opted in. Providers turn on "Accept adult content" per server. Flagged requests are never routed to a server that has not opted in; if none is online for a model, the request fails rather than falling back.
- Providers can change their mind. Turning the switch off takes effect on the next request. Providers may also block any consumer or key at any time.
- §3 applies in full. "Adult" means adults.
Cria does not read or classify request content. Flagging is your obligation as a consumer; honouring the flag is Cria's.
5. Providers
- You control your hardware and may stop serving at any time. Going offline is not a violation; misrepresenting your hardware, models, or uptime is.
- Requests pass through your machine. Treat consumer prompts and outputs as confidential: do not store them beyond what is needed to serve the request, do not read them for any purpose other than operating your server, and never publish or sell them.
- Set your own prices. Do not manipulate token counts; Cria cross-checks reported usage and caps discrepancies.
- You are responsible for your own electricity, taxes, and compliance with your local laws.
6. Consumers
- Your requests run on other people's computers. Providers agree to confidentiality (§5), but Cria cannot technically prevent a malicious provider from seeing your prompts. Do not send secrets, credentials, personal data about others, or anything you are not comfortable having processed on third-party hardware. If you need that guarantee, pin a server you trust with
X-Server-Key, or run your own. - You are charged the routed server's listed price for tokens actually used. Prices can change; the price at request time applies.
- Outputs are generated by open models on independent hardware. They may be wrong, offensive, or unavailable. Check them before you rely on them.
7. Money
- During the beta, consumer usage is free and no provider payouts are made. Providers can see what their traffic would have earned; that figure is informational and is not a balance.
- When billing is on: consumers prepay a wallet via Stripe; a small negative grace balance lets a conversation finish. Providers earn the listed price minus the platform fee (currently 20%, shown in your dashboard; founding providers may have a different rate). Payouts go through Stripe Connect on the schedule shown in your wallet, above a minimum.
- Deposits are refundable on request for the unused portion, minus payment processing fees. Usage already served is not refundable.
- Fraud, chargebacks made in bad faith, or attempts to game billing end the account.
8. Availability
No SLA. Servers are independently operated and can disappear mid-conversation. Cria routes around offline servers where it can. Do not build anything where an outage causes harm on top of this service without your own fallback.
9. Ending things
You can delete your account at any time; unused balance is refunded per §7. Cria can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, with notice where practical and without it where the violation is serious.
10. Liability
Cria is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, Cria is not liable for provider conduct, model outputs, lost data, lost profits, or indirect damages, and total liability is limited to what you paid Cria in the preceding three months.
11. Changes
These terms will change as the service leaves beta. Material changes are announced in the app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that is acceptance.
12. Contact
Abuse reports, takedowns, and questions: see About & contact. Reports about §3 content are handled first.
